MTV has claimed this man as the “Hottest MC In The Game”. Does Ricky Rozay live up to that name? From hopping on countless records to dropping some banger street tracks, find out how Ross ends up on Flop City after the jump. God Forgives, But Quake don’t.
Before I start with the slander, I would like to congratulate Rick Ross for avoiding Flop City for quite some time now. In 2011 he might not have dropped an album, but he sure as hell had a hot summer with his crew MMG. Not only did he manage to build up Wale to sell very well but he also got some major buzz for the kid Meek Mill, back when T.I. couldn’t. Now that I’m done with the rewarding it’s time to explain as to why this fat piece of sh*t couldn’t possibly avoid Flop City this year.

We start out in late 2011 when Rick Ross started dissing Young Jeezy about his album never getting a release date and him dropping his 2 singles “You The Boss” featuring Nicki Minaj & “I Love My B*tches”. First off the whole Jeezy dissing was a really bad move on Rozay’s part. Not only did Jeezy slap Rick Ross in the face by dropping his album TM:103, but he out sold Rick Ross in any 1st week numbers that Rick Ross has done, yeah check the stats Rick Ross has never sold over 200k 1st week. After Jeezy dropped his album and gained some buzz, Roazy’s album “God Forgives, I Don’t” got pushed back and never saw another release date for awhile. Now that wasn’t just because of Jeezy, it was for the fact that his 2 singles “You The Boss” which featured the one of the biggest artists in the game Nicki Minaj flopped and “I Love My B*tches” who was produced by the big named producer Just Blaze also flopped. I don’t understand how you flop when you have two big people on both tracks.

Now fast forwarding a little bit to MTV’s 2012 Hottest MC’s In The Game. Rick Ross manages to pull the #1 spot for Hottest MC. This is a pretty good look, but ask yourself how does he even deserve this spot? after flopping with his singles and not even dropping an album in 2011 Rozay still got #1. MTV pretty much based it off of what MMG did and not Rick Ross alone, which doesn’t mean sh*t if you ask me.
We hit 2012 and Rick Ross has promised all these months that it will be a hot year not only for him but for his MMG team too. I can believe Meek Mill pulling off a hot summer but Rick Ross hasn’t provided us with anything “Hot” yet. He supplies us with 2 new singles again this time “So Sophisticated” featuring his MMG Member Meek Mill and “Touch N’ You” featuring Usher. Once again he has two hot features on these singles and none of them are even buzzing. “Touch N’ You” features one of the biggest names in Pop “Usher” and it still hasn’t managed to gain any radio play. I don’t know how you fail with Usher, I can’t really name anyone that’s failed with Usher, even Jeezy pulled off a hit with Usher. It’s a shame that the “Hottest MC In The Game” can’t even get some buzz going.

Now for the bottom line. Rick Ross has flopped with 4 singles and I don’t see him dropping his album July 31st, even if he does it won’t push anything more than 150k. If it manages to push over 200k 1st week it will be because of the MMG momentum not Rick Ross. I would also like to say that Rick Ross hasn’t pulled off a Platinum album in his whole career so far. Now for the hottest MC to not even have a platinum album after 6 years of being in the game (mainstream wise) that’s very sad, hell even Soulja Boy managed to pull a platinum album with his debut. It’s sad that this guy is even being compared to 50 Cent who has done Rozay’s whole career about 10x over with just his debut album. The hype around Rick Ross is just hype, nothing more. If you want proof just look at all his singles, he constantly has features on them, he can’t make hits by himself at all. The only time he pulled off a hit by himself was with his debut album. I won’t be surprised if Meek Mill pulls a platinum album before Rick Ross. Overall I think this fat piece of sh*t doesn’t deserve the hype he’s getting, I think it should be going to some other artist that actually deserves it and until Rick Ross manages to go at least double platinum I won’t care for him at all and remember folks this isn’t me hating, this is all facts, go ahead a search it up, I don’t “hate” I just state facts.

you guys at DHH love to slate Ross, I don’t even fuck with him but you guys love to play his shit down even though you post him for traffic because you know he’ll bring it in, way to go geniuses.
dont hate man. rick ross suck at rapping. u may like him but we have our own opinions
? No one with a brain cell likes the Cop. It be like doing a flop city or a diss track for Soulja Boy? WTF? Or the Devil or Hitler or a rapist. ? Waste of time we all dont like him. ( Maybe not Hitler )
you got that right Aaron
A common talking point among Hip Hop insiders today is ‘culture.’ Whether it’s Irv Gotti demanding Def Jam be helmed by someone who “understands” it, or Damon Dash insisting that corporate America has bastardized it (pause), or Steve Stoute insisting that it’s applicable universally, ownership of Hip Hop culture (and who is worthy of it) is the focal contention.
Hip Hop began in the streets, the ghettos, and out of struggle. It embodies the rebellious spirit of the street hustler, the Black man in America, and the underprivileged. It illuminates the violence in the inner-city, celebrates the success of achievement in the face of oppression, and defiantly stands against authority. It denounces (viciously and consistently) law enforcement officials and those who attempt to silence the hustler’s spirit. For millions of people, Hip Hop has literally created the energy to stand against societal oppression, police discrimination, and class hypocrisy. It has been the support structure for resistance and strife. It gave the voiceless a voice, not with peaceful conciliation, but with strength and aggression. It took the spirit of Malcolm X and gave it a beat.
Tony Montana said it best: “All I have in this world is my balls and my word and I don’t break them for no one.” This is the ultimate Hip Hop tag line. It stands for everything that Hip Hop represents: the self-made leader. Hip Hop is the blueprint for taking what you want by any means necessary. It’s the beat of revolution, of power, of integrity. It doesn’t scream “I’m as mad as hell, and I’m not going to take this anymore.” It confidently tells you, “You’re not going to fuck with me anymore”, as it holds you by your ankles over a railing. It captures the raw emotion that everyone wishes they could employ in their life.
This brings me to my point: Rick Ross. For those who don’t know, Rick Ross is a former corrections officer. For almost two years he actively participated in imprisoning others in Florida, most of all black people. When this fact was discovered, Rick Ross denied it, until employment records and photos of him in law enforcement uniform forced him to recant.
No one expects all Hip Hop artists to be the genuine article. It is entertainment, after all. However, when we talk about Hip Hop culture, we’re not talking about entertainment (cul•ture: the behaviors and beliefs characteristic of a particular social, ethnic, or age group). No Hip Hop artist (that I’m aware of) has been a former law enforcement officer. To welcome a person who actively participated in the imprisonment (enslavement) of others, particularly black people; perpetuating the very abuse that is so central to what Hip Hop is against, is (and I mean this in every possible sense of the word) foul.
The character of Hip Hop resides in the documentary nature that makes it believable. It’s where the brazen “swagger” stems from; the willingness we see to break the rules in the struggle against oppression. It is the music and the culture of the strong willed; it is the chorus to Darwin’s Natural Selection theory.
Rick Ross is a cancer to Hip Hop culture. He violates the core elements of what Hip Hop stands for at every level. He’s worse than a snitch. Hip Hop wouldn’t (and shouldn’t) let Sammy “the Bull” Gravano rap, or let Donnie Brasco sing a hook. As Hip Hop culture is stretched across all spectrums of society, it is expected that its foundational integrity will be stretched, too. That’s why this is important. Rick Ross is Hip Hop’s litmus test, and the answer is overdue. If you’re an average listener, this isn’t a question for you. But if you love Hip Hop, you need to decide, and make your opinion known: What’s real? Is this keepin’ it real? Is this garbage pail Hip Hop? You know the answer; don’t be shook, “‘cause ain’t no such things as halfway crooks.”
damn this was a great comment did you write it yourself
Lol i wish!!! Someone else did i copy’d it saved it to my email and whenever there’s a cop post i post that.
Thats Bullshit you just used clever words that are meant to entice people into your opinion: that little article has got crap written all over it you praise & define the hip hop hustle & culture and point out that Ross is a Fraud How about Ice Cube they started gangsta Rap they Said fuck the police but he came from a well off family he wasnt selling crack metter of fact he was in school thats why he wrote thier lyrcs
Now that the Hip hop game is epitamised drugdealers you tell us ross is in desripute of the very thing hip hop stands for I belive he embodies what its about call him a cop but you still pay attention his music is hot may not sell double plat or even one he is a reminder of how hardcore rap should sound like give the Nigga Props the Cop is Holding it down better than the drugdealers & his black
so fuck your harvard or what ever you call it article cause he sold you sum & you buying It “Thats Real Hustle to me”
Officer Ricky is flat out garbage. every song sounds the same and because he lies about himself makes me hate him even more. Someone needs to do top 10 flops so he’ll be listed as # 1
So much feelings quake.
yaa want some real hiphop wait for me nd the bro Chipsy to lime to the topp
we wont dissapoint
just giving ya the heads upp
Why are yall hatin on Rick Ross his mixtape was one of the best mixtapes of the year last year really yall don’t know music and Him and his crew doin Big things this summer all yall are nothing but haters damn shame
he had one good song on his mixtape and it was only popular because of Drake’s verse that was directed to Common. Everything in this Flop City is true and it’s one of the first times ive ever agreed with what Quake said.
when people talk about how good rick ross is they just talk about how great his mmg crew is and dont even talk about ross himself. rick ross is mainstream garbage and any1 who actually thinks he is good doesnt know real hip hop and what it is about. his whole life is a contradiction he went from enforcing the law to talking about how he breaks it
Im talkin about Ross himself and he didn’t have one good song on there every song on there went hard yall understimating Ross now the nigga is lyrical yall just hatin cause he do have a nice crew and he doin good too stop that shit he nice on the mic
Im talkin about Ross himself and he didn’t have one good song on there every song on there went hard yall understimating Ross now the nigga is lyrical yall just hatin cause he do have a nice crew and he doin good too stop that shit he nice on the mic.
Hahahahah best mix tape of the year more like the gayest mix tape of the year..
are you kidding me? all you talked about what his four singles over and over agian. who gives a shit about singles when hes got that Rich Forever tape out that is one of the dopest tapes of this year? quake please do everyone a favor and stop writing reviews and ish of the like.
jake shut up the dopest tape that nobody cares about? Only Reason Y Niggas Care Is Because Drake Was On It Homie
you’re paying wayyy too much attention on sales and singles. Despite his singles not getting buzz, he still got alot of buzz from “rich forever” which you overlooked. “rich forever” in my opinion was garbage for the most part but it still had alot of buzz. His recent singles just got released so it hasnt had time to do what its suppose to do and i bet if they do get radio play which they prob will, you’ll feel stupid. you’re review was based on hate. if ur gunna put him on flop city, it would’ve been best to do it by his repetitive content. btw ross is more relevant than 50. you should put 50 on flop city cuz his recent work hasnt been all that great and hes not selling shit but since you’re a hardcore 50 cent stan, you prob wont do it.
First off, Flop City is based off current radio play for your singles and ALBUM MATERIAL, how well you are doing as far as your album goes, we don’t focus on mixtapes here. Second off 50 Cent has already been on Flop City, check the old Flop City posts, he’s been there. I don’t “hate” on any of these rappers, I just state facts, everything I said was FACTS and not my opinion what so ever.
Quake please don’t take offense to this, but I believe and I’m sure many dhh readers would agree that u are pro gunit. I mean…. About 40percent of the post up here are 50 related. My point being…. Ur only reason for going at Ross is simply because his beef with fif. U did state fact…. But another fact is Ross buzz in his whole career has never been this much. He will easily do 200k. Please don’t let bias blind you bro.
homie he said he already did other rapper how is he bias on this he already did 50 cent yes he FAN But Quake Nowhere Near Pro G-Unit Or Stan He Gave His Opinon On Whats Happening Right Now With Rick Ross Right Now ….Rick Ross & MMG Are Not Doing To Well There Only Hot Cuz The Industry Pushing Them…They Make Hot Music But There Fans Are Not Buying There Music There A Reason This Is called ”Flop City” Cuz Its Based On Sales & How Well Are U Doing …Its Not about Lyrics Or He Had A Dope Mixtape …Like I Said People Cared About ‘Rich Forever” Cuz Of Drake & The Only Song That Blew Was ”Stay Scheming” With Drake Other Songs NOBODY CARED ABOUT
So rich forever wasn’t trending worldwide……yet…… He still has no buzz? ( and on the matter of dhh being pro gunit ) less Than two hours after I said that another 50cent post was up. No website besides this and thisis50 has that many gunit post unless its a stanclub. I mean they ain’t following DMX, juvenile or mystical and they more relevant than 50 now a days. That’s how bad 50 buzz is right now !!!! His tape was horrible . No other site d rides him as much.
Like I said Only Reason Y Rich Forever Because Of Drake …..If He Has Buzz Then Y His Singles Are Not Selling?
50 Cent Had Features Buzzing,Down On Me & Up On Radio Thoose Songs Turned Sucessful Since 2010 What Has Rick Ross Done Since 2010 Othere ”Stay Scheming”’ Reason Y That Song Only Get Play On Streets Because Of Drake …Rick Ross Dropped A Solo Song Nobody Gunna Buy His Shit He Just Gave 3 Song & You See Examples MMG Have No Buzz If They Had Buzz There Songs Will Selling Like Eminem …
Mosthated81 The whole Rich Forever Mixtape went hard people didn’t get just cause Drake was on there at all it was the whole mixtape your comment on the mixtape is stupid and irrelevant period
Lmao Telll Y Did One Song Off The ”’Rich Forever” Buzzed On The Streets ”Stay Scheming” This Proved Nobody Cares About Rick Ross
All the personal insults and name calling though, you have to admit you have some hate for Rick Ross lol
It’s not hate for Ross…. It’s love for fif !
Its not love for Fif its hate for lying piece of dog shit ex cop horrible father fake as fuck faggot.
Hey Quake, whats with the flip flop on 50 cent? You talked sh*t about him in an earlier flop city, while you worshiped Rick Ross. Now you like 50 again, and Ross is garbage? Im glad you finally got your head on straight, but what prompted the turn around?
Fif tape was a flop !!!! A major flop!!!! His album is the next detox. Will do less than 150k if he doesn’t get banks back or buy his own albums.
Its Not Flip Flop Homie At The Time 50 Was Struggling 5o Is In The Headlines More Then Rick Ross Now A Days Once Ur In The Headlines People Inside & Outside Of Hip Hop Are Aware Of You Yall Will See A Difference When 50 Drops His Album & Then Will Rick Ross Drops album Yall Will Be Shocked Cant Wait To See Yall Faces
yo Sean, is it that time of the month again? Stop crying you faggot, Quake already put 50 in Flop City. Your little hating ass wished DMX, Juve or Mystikal had as much buzz as 50 which is not the case. Ross doesn’t just flop with all of his singles, he flops with huge features that all recently went platinum, something the so-called hottest rapper has never achieved. Ross’ buzz is fabricated and if it wasn’t for all these big features, nobody would care for his albums. Btw Rich Forever sucked, almost every song sounded the same and people only cared for the Drake track.
Naw brah…. rozay don’t flop
Lol u gotta be good in order to flop?
he sucks, thats why he got kicked out of rebook
gay ass lyrics… im done
Rich forever was one of the best mix tapes of the year. haha how that a flop? this is stupid.
Yall Stupid Im Done ”Rich Forever” Wasnt It A Mixtape Not A Album You guys Tell Me How Does ”Stay Scheming” The Only Mixtape Song Buzzing Of That Tape?….This Has Nun To Do with G-Unit
yall are crazy if u think rick ross knows how to rap….he is FAR from a lyricist…the only reason why i fuck with ross is because his beats be knockin….his beats make my trunk go crazy….but lyrically he’s garbage….but i am kinda surprised that he got put in flop city?!? i definitely wasnt expecting that
Ohhhh shit haha i started reading ur comment before i read ur name then i was like oh thats why.
The reason a cop makes ur trunk go ” Bang ” because u never heard real rappers and real producers.
Not to mention just listening to the Cop makes u a faggot.
If u like his beats find a remix or get the instrumentals really simple stuff.
Why Sean mad as fuck tho? Ross is garbage.
Man idc abt Ross . My favorite rapper is jayz. Been with the roc since 96. My only problem with the post was quakes language (which clearly showed emotion) and the fact that forty percent of every post on this blog is gunit related !
wth are u talking about ? 40% on this Blog Every Blog Post G-Unit? Isnt g-Unit Hip Hop ? Gtfoh
Haha they aint Gunit fan boys just when they do a Unit song real recognize real. U to fake to see it sorry bro.
If the Fake Lying Cop doesnt piss u off then ur not a rap fan just a Hip Pop fan.
TRUTH!
U cant defend that. If the Cop doesnt piss u off then ur not a rap fan. Read my long comment. Its the truth.
[...] Listen to the track, I bet you can’t tell me now that he don’t belong on Flop City, [...]
Rick Ross is just trash i really don’t know why he raps he sucks
