Here goes my (Quake) review for Lil Wayne’s highly anticipated album “Tha Carter IV”, does it even compare to Carter 3? you will have to check out my review to find out, once again I’m putting all of my hate aside for this, I’m simply listening to the tracks and judging them from what I hear, I would like it if you guys did your own reviews on the album too on the comment section I would love to read what you guys thought about it, now with that said check out my review after the jump.
1. “Intro” – This track wasn’t that good and not a good way to start out the album, at least the intro was an actual track though, instead of someone talking, other then that, not an impressive track, usual Wayne verses.
2. “Blunt Blowin” – This track separates from the production on this album, I liked most of what Wayne said on the track, some of what he said makes no sense, but it’s Lil Wayne, nothing is going to make sense, the production is dope, the hook is pretty nice too, overall track isn’t that good though it makes me think of I Am Not A Human Being when listening to it.
3. “MegaMan” – This track also reminds me of IANAHB also, the production is okay, the Wayne verses are the same, talking about robbing and or kidnapping people, no creativity.
4. “6 Foot, 7 Foot” feat. Cory Gunz – This track was the first offering for C4 and it was good at first but after awhile it got boring, it has some clever lines, but overall nothing that good, Cory Gunz helped make this track a little better, the beat on this track didn’t impress me either.
5. “Nightmares of the Bottom” – Once again not a special track, production sucked, nothing to like on this track, it also has no hook which is stupid, Wayne has lost his creativity.
6. “She Will” feat. Drake – This track is one of the stand out tracks on the album, it has some amazing production, Drake killed the hook, Weezy did his thing on the verses and I couldn’t wait till this dropped, It also had a different sound from the usual tracks on the album which I liked.
7. “How To Hate” feat. T-Pain – This is just an album filler, I don’t why it made the album, nothing dope on this track at all, the production sucks, T-Pain sounds horrible, and Wayne had some okay bars.
8. “Interlude” feat. Tech N9ne – I don’t know what to say about this, I have no clue why it’s on the album, sort of doesn’t make sense, Tech N9ne stole the show, and no Weezy.
9. “John” feat. Rick Ross – This track sounds like all of the same stuff, mostly Rick Ross material type of music, the production is what made this song bad, Lil Wayne rapping about the same stuff, killing, robbing, sex and kidnapping, Weezy lost his sense of creativity once again, a horrible choice for a single too, Rick Ross had one good line that I loved on this track “I got a choppa in the car, UGH!”.
10. “Abortion” – Another track about senseless stuff, rapping about the same stuff, sounds like a rock track from the start, I thought by the title it would be a good track and actually talk about something, but once again Weezy dissapoints.
11. “So Special” feat. John Legend – This track was pretty good, I like the production, John Legend made this track even better, Lil Wayne sort of switched up the Wayne he raps, but same type of content once again, In my opinion John Legend stole the show.
12. “How To Love” – Perfect choice for a single, the track blew up, production is okay not the typical Weezy track but you got to have a pop type of track to get your album to do good numbers so I understand it, but when Weezy performs this track live it’s horrible Wayne can’t sing to save his life.
13. “President Carter” – I don’t know why people liked this track so much, production stands out definitely, I liked the sample but overall Wayne disappoints once again rapping about the same stuff by kidnapping people, smoking weed, smashin b*tches..etc…no creativity.
14. “It’s Good” feat. Jadakiss & Drake – I loved this track, Jadakiss killed it, Drake killed it, this track stood out from the usual tracks, Wayne took some shots at Hov which made this track even better because I love to see BEEF, and well overall dope track.
15. “Outro” feat. Bun B, Nas, Shyne & Busta Rhymes – I wasn’t feeling this track as much as other people, the production was okay, Nas killed it, Shyne sounded like a cookie monster I have no clue why he was on this track, Bun B did okay but didn’t really stand out and well Busta Rhymes did his thing too, I’m glad Wayne wasn’t on this track too.
16. “I Like The View” – The hook on this track sucked, production was okay, I’m glad it was a bonus track because it was the same stuff from Lil Wayne, same production type of tracks, no creativity once again.
17. “Mirror” feat. Bruno Mars – This is the best track on the whole album, Lil Wayne actually rapped about something this time and none of that bullshit lyrics, he rapped about his life and it was really dope, the production was amazing, Bruno Mars made the track even more better, I have no clue why this track ended up as a bonus track and I have no clue why they didn’t choose this track as a single either, stupid choices from the YMCMB team, this track made me have hope in Wayne.
18. “Two Shots” – The hook sucked, Wayne rapped about the same stuff, just horrible, glad it was a bonus cut.
19. – “Up Up & Away” – Same stuff, glad it was a bonus cut, nothing more to say.
Now for my overall thoughts, I was anticipating this album like crazy after hearing She Will I thought this album would be the best album of 2011 but I was wrong just goes to show you should never judge an album by one track, the album disappointed like crazy, Wayne rapped about the same stuff with NO originality or creativity all I heard was him rapping about kidnapping people, smoking weed, his goons, him being a blood, smashing girls and that’s about it over and over again, this album disappointed beyond belief I have no clue why its even selling as much as it did, to be honest with you I think Watch The Throne is a better album, This album also made me think it was I Am Not A Human Being 2 because most of the production and bars sounded like it belonged on I Am Not A Human Being, like I said no creativity. Wayne fans will buy ANYTHING with Lil Wayne on it even if it sounds this horrible, but it did have some good tracks like “Mirror” which I really liked, “She Will” and “It’s Good” other then that this is the worst Carter installment to be released, no hate either, how much an album sells doesn’t make or break the album either, I’ve seen albums sell lower then 30k but still be better then this.
I give this album a 4 OUT OF 10.

U ARE RIGHT DIS ALBUM SUCKS I RATHER PICK UP THE RED ALBUM
my albums gonna be doper then this shit
Now that is a spot on review. I’m sorry, but listening to the same person singing/rapping about the same crap with the same beats track after track is just really saddening. I’m not even just talking about Lil Wayne cause too many ppl are doin the same old crap.
I honestly would prefer Game’s Hood Mornin (not so much RED album) over this crap cause there’s a bit more creativity behind it.
And they keep blaming piracy for lack of sales….damn man put more than 20 mins into a song and maybe it’ll be worth paying for, but sadly, much much better stuff have come from mixtapes.
yep, you know where I’m coming from, he keeps repeating about what he’s rapping, Hip Hop is dying due to the lack of creativity, it’s not that hard to make a track about your life, or something important that people could relate to, like Mirror which is the best track on the album, in my opinion.
some songs sucks, some songs are great, still better than the RED album and many others, bout equal to watch the throne, hoping take care will be amazing
I didn’t like the RED album only because it had so much features, but other then that RED album beats C4, at least Game knows how to switch up his flow and rap about different things and not the same shit.
what game only raps about the hood and shout outs and name dropping thats why his album flopped i like the game for his first album but the rest are the same.
Actually no, there are tracks like California Dream, The Good The Bad The Ugly, Ricky, Good Girls Go Bad, Pot of Gold that actually rap about something unlike what Wayne is rapping about.
In my opinion. its really a 50/50. everything before “john” i actually enjoy. everything after that song i think to myself “Am i listening to something right now?” very disappointed. Its time to retire for real. Let Drake take over cause he is killin it lately. Fact: Take care will do better than Carter 4, but my Bold Statement is that it will sell more than a million.
agree with you Kris!! Take Care will do better than C4!
You are seriously the most hate filled person I have heard from. You didn’t like Watch the Throne before it even came out. You hyped up Tha Carter 4 and then went back on it. You think everybody and their mother is in the Illuminati. If Tupac and BIG were still alive you would probably say they were washed up, who knows. I have no problem with a bad review. People have opinions but your just all over the place with your thoughts. BTW Go on Rap Genius dot com and they’ll explain what every line, to every song means. LOVE. All. MUSIC.
I actually heard a few WTT tracks before it came out, I do have connections you know, I liked She will that’s why I hyped up C4, I thought it would be a good album, I already explained it, and yes most famous people are in the illuminati, if you actually did research on it you would know that.
Honestly, I’ve done some pretty good research on the Illuminati. Watched an hour long documentary from Alex Jones and Heard speeches from KRS-one and I’m still not convinced. I think it’s a gimmick. Something for people to be paranoid about. Think about it, in the 70′s people thought “The Man” was trying to control everything. My opinion, its generational, humans want to have the answers that cant be answered so they make up groups such as this. They want something to blame and people have a natural instinct sometimes to go against the masses or “controlled music” No one group would have enough power to control the whole music, movie, etc industries. I do think they’re are secrets in the world, but not one group trying to control everything through shapes and secret eyes. Music is just music.
I respect your opinion, and I can’t force anyone to believe it, but that’s your choice and I respect it, glad you responded in a good way, unlike other people they just attack me and think they always right, I’m just asking you though if people in the industry talk about it and spread it how do you know it’s not real when they are in the industry? know what I’m getting at?
Oh I hate how some people respond ignorantly, it’s just a waste of time because no one takes them seriously after that. I see where your coming from. I believe some record labels are as dirty as can be but an artist will stand by his/her music anyway. This is the first time I’ve commented and I’ve been with your site since the Blogspot days, Love the site, thanks for the response.
Quake first off i respect ur opinion but ur hate comes from bias because you think waynes in the illuminati and this album has many songs that are good individually and it follows the sane formula as c3 so you cant say that this album is trash because his method of delivery has not changed. Same flow and punchlines people love. Ur biased review is trash.
Actually I’ve asked actual fans of hip hop and they said this album sucks, only Lil Wayne fans like it, and no I didn’t give this a bad review because Lil Wayne is in the illuminati (which he is) but that doesn’t effect my opinion, I put all hate aside when doing album reviews, I knew someone would say something stupid like that, Weezy has lost it, it’s time for Drake to do his thing, Wayne is slowing becoming uncreative and slowing will fall off like 50 Cent did, people were sick and tired of 50 rapping about guns and killing people, Wayne is doing the same shit.
im a fan of hip hop and i like carter 4 i like kanye and jayz better but c4 is better than wtt.
ok couple things 1 who cares about Illuminati? If hes it that has to do with about his music? lol nothing? Raps dieing because hip hops takeing over, look Bad Meets Evil had that gay Lighters, lol on a hardcore straight insane EP album watever it had to sell out, lol,. oh btw Tyler hates mars? Ems hangin wit him? Lol Em dont care beiber gaga lol come on EM knows that Lighters was for charts,
Also Wayne had how to love that automaticlly takes him outta rap atleast 50 did candy shop he didnt do hook or nothing different except flow for his hip hop single, same wit Banks, Em, u name it most rappers dont be gay for a single, btw the pants? wtf? anyways
About the album, Intro was cool cause u get to Hear Tech, 3 Stacks, Nas, Busta and Bun all did beater on that beat, Tech and Nas destoryd i love Tech but Nas was just insane! I loved Megaman that beat was nasty, sad that Interlude Outro Megaman That Good are my favs.
Also i love im not a human being, it was mostly rap? but most dont like it? idk,
WTT was fruity other than Dous in Paris and the best song off it Gotta Have It, it was a classical music album?
id say this album is around the WTT Red Ferrie Boys albums.
And way below the 6s 7s, Bad Meets Evil, Jay Rocks and Royces,
btw real rap aint dying or dead the fans for it are stupider!
Kutt Kalhouns Ep, TEchs Album, Jay Rocks album, Bad Meets evil and ROyces album, all dope real rap music is out just people are to stupid and buy this ass
your name is BOB lmfao stfu!! every album Jay-Z comes out with or came out with is a classic because he earned it. wayne tlks about the same shit shit and he lies. the only person he shot was himself. what a gangster lol
Lol i doubt he shot a gun let alone shot himself lol, umm i dont really care Jay other than Gotta Have it best song off WTT and DOus in Paris the album was lol a classical album? Not rap not even Hip hop, But i dont care. b
Lil Wayne did shoot himself when he was like 10 lol…gangsta my ass HA! lol
lol wow, btw yea hows Wayne all this hes been doing shitty music since a teen wtf?!?! lol,
can we get backon topic stop game vs wayne and C4 vs Wtt
Dam!
Look yall compareing this ass album to Games weak album lol yall just wow
the reason why tha carter iii was so great was that every song had a point and a story. on tha carter iv wayne just raps about random stuff with no point or story to it.
i understand what some of yall are saying, but at the end of the day thats just not the kind of rapper he is…he’s not the kind of rapper that tells stories…he said it himself in an interview…he told stories on C3, but now he’s a punchline rapper that focuses on metaphors…his verses may not tell a story but he’s still creative because no one can think of better metaphors than him….so u cant get mad at the way he raps….and no one should be comparing C4 and watch the throne because those are 2 totally different sounding albums…..wayne cant be compared to ANY other rapper because no one raps like him….he may not be the best rapper overall, but he’s the best at what he does, and thats making punchlines and never-before-heard metaphors!
lol omg are u serious!?!?!??! Omg haha! WOOOOW! Fabolouse Banks Crooked I Royce lol all do better wit Punch Lines and metaphors? woooow omg wow someones dense, btw Rap is Rap! Poetry Rhyming, flow, pretty simple to help compare artists, more vareables but im writeing this quick
Actually Wayne isn’t that good, he said on one track “I’m Rich my name should be Richard” that isn’t good at all, Lloyd Banks, Chamillionaire, Fabolous, Vado will all kill Wayne in one line.
lol thats my thing! Wayne makes a punch line 2 bars when anyone else does a punchline in 1! Wayne is so grade school and explains his lines lol
Good album review, I’m just a wayne fan and enjoy his music, the leak had over 1.5 million download in 5 hours though. I would like to hear different styles from Wayne, that “Mirrors” track was real and Bruno helped it along, & WTT is NOT better haha, that album is no where close haha. I got them both for free and bought a copy, so i supported both artist, but to me, i think C4 is better. But everyones got opinions! Keep the album reviews coming Quake, i really enjoy them! Nice work!
LMFAO @ the Bob comments.
My man writes like he doesnt speak formal english fluently and then wants to give opinion to an album which contains a lot of metaphors and slang, haha.
Yo Bob, do you even understand what i am saying?
Hola amego! Me deepest apopligizes! Lol my bad, Hearing bad music messes me up. Sorry dude, Its just that Waynes album was not that good, while theres been others this year that destroy it. Its in the catorgory with WTT and Game’s album, Fan boys will buy and love it anyone else will say its weak. And all 3 have good tracks but just not a full front to back album. Sorry
I love how in the beginning you said you would be unbiased, then began to bash nearly every song because it was “typical Wayne” and it had little to no creativity.
Was this nearly as good as Carter 3? No, not even close.
But your reasons for hating this album are basically why people that love Lil Wayne love him. You obviously didn’t put much thought into it, or you were just half listening because the punchlines did make sense, and the Intro-Interlude-Outro are basically one song. They are divided like that on purpose, and have the same beat.
I can understand why many people dislike the album, but if you forget about Carter 3, his best album by far…you might actually like the album. I guarantee you that if this album had any other name it would get better reviews because people wouldn’t compare it to C3. IMO if you get a classic on your hands like C3, making a sequel is stupid because very rarely will lightning strike in the same place twice. While I do agree with you on the repetitive nature, the production on it was actually pretty good.
My favorite songs on it were President Carter (which was carter 3 material easily), She Will, It’s Good, and Mirror.
1. “Intro” 4.5 stars (It was really good, and when put into context with the Interlude and Outro the order goes imo Tech-Nas, Andre, Wayne, Busta, Bun B, fuck Shyne lol)
2. “Blunt Blowin” 4.5 stars (Great Beat and great verses)
3. “Megaman” 4.0 stars (1st playthrough i didn’t love it, but after a second play it was ok)
4. “6 Foot 7 Foot” 4.5 stars (It was great when I first heard it, but after a few listens I got tired of it, still when it was new it was great)
5. “Nightmares of the Bottom” 4.5 stars (It’s slow, but Weezy fans will like it. IMO the absence of a hook doesn’t mean a lack of creativity)
6. “She Will” 5 stars (Amazing beat, both rappers killed it)
7. “How to Hate” 3 stars (Rather boring and didn’t bother to listen to again, nothing is memorable)
8. “Interlude” 5 stars (Tech N9ne and Andre 3000 had 2 of the best verses on the album, Nas on Outro did as well)
9. “John” 3.5 stars (I don’t really like Rick Ross, or Lex Luger beats as they don’t fit my taste, but it was ok)
10. “Abortion” 4.75 stars (I liked this beat and the verses but his singing thing wasn’t good, and held the rating from a perfect 5)
11. “So Special” 5 stars (Amazing hook and production)
12. “How to Love” 4.75 stars (While at first I didn’t really like it, not even because he sang or because it was pop as idc when it comes to Wayne, but it grew on me and was a great choice for a single, even though IMO Mirror and She Will would’ve been better)
13. “President Carter” 5 stars (This is probably the closest we will ever come to Carter 3 era Wayne, and has him doing internal rhyming over a dope beat, hook, and a literally Presidential sample. It also came out of nowhere as I wasn’t expecting this type of song on the album. The final minute or so is epic.)
14. “It’s Good” 5 stars (Jadakiss had the best verse, Drake did great, and Wayne’s verse was great as well. Wayne’s lines to me were pretty funny, the good kind, and made me laugh at some of his insults.)
15. “Outro” 5 Stars (In order from best to literally WORST is Nas, Busta, Bun B, and way far behind was Shyne. Nas’ verse is probably one of Nas’ best, I am not an avid listener so its really guess work though. If they replace Shyne and Bun B with Tech and Andre this would have been a classic song no doubt.)
The bonus songs Mirror and I Like the View I thought should’ve replaced How to Hate and John. I liked Two Shots more than Megaman too.
I am not going to do an average because…well….I am too lazy. While it did stumble, for me it ended on a high note. While C3 in book deserved a perfect 10, this album compared to that deserves a respectable 7-8, as it was noticeably worse and not up to that caliber. As an album on its own, however, I give it an 8.5-9.0, as I still liked it.
He probably has fallen off, but I still like Wayne, and songs like President Carter and She Will prove he still has what it takes, he just needs to try harder and not get lazy.
While I am typing, I will say that YMCMB SUCKS AT QUALITY CONTROL! Other rappers who are at the forefront of rap like Wayne, Em, Jay should have quality control, as should everybody else. Em and Jay seem to do a great job of this. Em and Jay seem so much more consistent because they only let out (most of the time) their better songs, but Wayne seems to let out complete bullshit and classics within the span of a few weeks. And Wayne has to drop deadweight like Birdman, Mack Maine, Gudda Gudda, etc. If he took a page out of Drake and Nicki’s books, he would see much more success and less hate.
Wayne has strokes of brilliance, and that is why he is one of my favorites, but if he wants everyone to consider him a GOAT he needs to up his standards in terms of music and people. He has too many lows that counteract with his best. He leaves a bittersweet feeling with his fans at the end of the day. He has enough great material in his catalogue to be considered a GOAT, but his catalogue is also flooded with utter shit. IMO, even Encore and Relapse were leagues better than most other rappers quality wise for Eminem. Em’s worst could probably shit on 80% of the competition. Tech’s worst could do the same, Nas’ could do the same, Jay’s could do the same, etc. Wayne’s worst has the potential to rival Waka, Gucci, Lil B lol.
IMO best consistency in rap belongs to J. Cole, I have yet to here a bad song from him. I have heard some average songs, but I am confident that AT LEAST 90% of his songs are simply amazing and up to his best quality.
I’m glad you gave your own review, appreciate that.
FUCK IT EVERYDAY IM SHUFFLING!!!!!!!!
….and yall are judging off of one line??? theres so much lines that he used that will top everything that Lloyd Banks and those other rappers that u listed will EVER say….there’s not ONE song by those rappers that tops 6 foot 7 foot punchlines…..and besides, all of those rappers are under-rated (besides Fab)…..u just cant compare under-rated rappers to a LEGEND! but anyways, im gonna be laughing my ass off when C4 sells over 900K (or 1M) in the first week! its already projected to sell 950K, which means he passed what eminem sold in the first week! i wouldnt be surprised to not see a post on this website with his first week sales(haters) “Let em hate and watch the money pile-up”
Yeah K-Freshh that’s the sad thing, why are rappers that are better lyrical rappers not as famous as Lil Wayne? when they are better? simple as this, The Illuminati, they don’t want intelligent rappers to become big because they want us to listen to dumb music that teach us dumb things like doing drugs, fucking girls and leaving them, money and cars when there are better things in this life, just think about what I said, why are all the lyrical and or more intelligent rappers not as famous? Lupe Fiasco can tell a story in a song like NO OTHER rapper will EVER be able to do and is way smarter then Wayne, but still doesn’t sell as much, smh.
Eminem is a better storyteller, Jay-Z is a better story teller…there are actually a lot of rappers who are both popular and intelligent and lyrical….you can find them rather easily. The difference arises when the intelligent rappers become so self righteous and refuse to do anything else besides make ‘intelligent songs’. They turn into niche artists, and lose fans.
Look at what happened to Nas, he was pretty popular (not as popular as Wayne Em or Jay) but faded away.
Lol wtf? 6 foot 7 foot was ass vs oh um check me out lol pssh get outta here banks Fabo better than wayne pssh, human race is dumb they buy his wack album when Jay Rocks album was better
lol he started off by saying he’s not gonna hate on Wayne and then he does exactly that …smh GET A TEAM FOR DHH AND LET THE PEOPLE WHO JUST LOVE MUSIC FOR MUSIC TO DO REVIEWS CAUSE WHEN YOU HAVE A HATIN MOFO DOING THESE SHITS THEY AIN’T GON DO NOTHING BUT HATE….and you said the intro was wack along with the outré???? The way Wayne set up the intro interlude and outré was genius? Like really doe? Wayne isn’t even my favorite musician but you give these other okay albums 7/10 and 8/10 but because you’re a hater tha Carter iv gets 4/10?? You don’t even have legit reasons but “he doesn’t make sense he doesn’t make sense” and “this track to me was just wack” stfu go find yourself another place on this site and get an actual hip hop fan whos neutral with the hating to do your reviews cause all I got outta this is you really hate lil wayne smh…continuing on tha carter iv just broke the iTunes sales record with 300,000 copies in just 3 days so I mean I really am just waiting to see the review you do for Wayne when he sells the 1m in a week…honestly speaking though you got BUN B, NAS, BUSTA, ANDRE 3000 not to mention the other legends and highly respected artists on this album giving Wayne props, respect and support what more is there to say tha carters are just platinum made tha Carter iv gets a 9/10 if yall really wanted to know
I know right….I kinda gave my review a couple comments above…I love Wayne but C4 wasn’t a classic, but it was definitely better than this guy made it out to be.
lol wow people are u serious? Wow its a 4 outta 10 soildly! Wtf? Has anyone here not Listened Tech’s Jay Rocks’ Bad Meets Evil’s and Royces? pssh they where so much better this album is so weak
Also anyone who says albums sales they r stupid Banks best album last year didnt sell good at all but was way better than this! Omg people people people!
Do you realize Wayne isn’t rapping about shit though, if my favorite rapper 50 Cent tomorrow dropped an album just rapping about guns, I would give the shit a 2 out of 10, I don’t hate on any rapper it’s my point of view on things, Wayne isn’t as good of a rapper as people make him out to be, Lupe Fiasco, Lloyd Banks, J. Cole, Jadakiss, Fabolous all of those people will out rap Weezy any week of the day.
How are you gonna say something like “Nightmares of the Bottom” sucked when you said, and I quote”The beat and the lyrics in this song have raised my C4 hopes to an all time high.”. I’m sorry bruh, but you can’ tell me the song just sucks out of no where.
When did I say that? and it’s my opinion Nightmares has no point to it, with a horrible ass beat.
http://www.diversehiphop.com/blog/2011/06/lil-wayne-nightmares-of-the-bottom-live/ Yeah you wasn’t saying that in June.
wasent him it was onpoint not quake who made the post sry dude
so quake……what if lupe fiasco dropped and album tommarow about skateboards and only about skateboards what score would u give it?
4 out of 10, if EVERY SINGLE track was about skateboards, albums that just focus on one thing don’t even deserve to be released I don’t care what artist you are.
i dont understand what was so bad about nightmares of the bottom…the first 2 verses made alot of sense to me….you can tell that the third verse was recorded at a different time because it kinda has a different vibe to it…..but shit, i give that song a solid 5 because it made alot of sense…and president carter was probably the best song on the album…that speech he did at the end…u cant tell me that wasnt creative! overall, i thought this album was pretty solid tho..it definitely wasnt his best carter album, but it was pretty solid considering that he had to re-do it after getting out of jail..but its kinda weird how some of the bonus songs are better than songs from the album! especially “Mirror” and “I Like The View”…those 2 songs should of been on the album…i guess its time for a new manager…lol

Grammar lesson, read something nigga.
Your so bias with your remarks lol this album was fire
